Run, Waiter, Run!

Dalibor Vrána keeps a bookshop; business is bad, his debts are large and he has a weakness for women. One day in a restaurant he is taken for a waiter. Nobody objects, so he collects the bill and pockets the money. Then he makes a trade of it: a different restaurant every evening, playing the waiter, taking the money and walking out. For a while it goes very well indeed. But the money creates a problem of its own, because he cannot explain to anyone where it came from. Ladislav Smoljak directs, with Josef Abrhám as Dalibor. Smoljak wrote it with Zdeněk Svěrák, who also appears in it. It is among the most widely watched Czech comedies.
