The film follows a street kid who starts with small crimes and grows into a large-scale operator, built on the Brink’s robbery carried out in Boston in 1950, in which the thieves left with two and a half million dollars. It lays out the mechanics of the hold-up step by step and at the same time looks inside the heads of the men doing it; what interests it is not where the money went but the point past which a boy does not come back. Joseph Pevney directed, from a screenplay Sydney Boehm adapted from a non-fiction book. Tony Curtis plays the grown man; Sal Mineo, who plays him as a boy, made his first screen appearance here. George Nader, Julie Adams and Jay C. Flippen fill out the cast.
