What Sunshine Women's Choir Is About
Gavin Lin's 2025 Taiwanese film is set in a women's prison. Four inmates begin caring for a baby girl born inside. The child is found to have a disease of the eyes. The women form a choir to leave her one beautiful memory; the film uses feeling openly while also showing the order of the prison, and promises no easy deliverance. Ivy Chen and Judy Ongg appear. The songs run inside the narrative. The tone is emotional. Who it's for: those who like Taiwanese drama and music-centred films. Who it's not for: viewers uncomfortable with emotional emphasis; the film uses it directly.
