Ody C. Harahap's 2017 Indonesian film is the local adaptation of the Korean Miss Granny. Fatmawati, seventy, returns to the body of her twenty-year-old self after having her photograph taken at a studio and tries again at the singing she had to give up in her youth. The adaptation carries the template into an Indonesian context: family hierarchy, the position of a widow and the invisibility of the old are built locally. Tatjana Saphira handles the trick of inhabiting an old woman well. The song choices come from Indonesian pop history and are the film's best-loved element. Because the story stays faithful to the original there are no surprises, and the final section runs long. Who it's for: viewers who like Indonesian comedy and body-swap premises. Who it's not for: anyone who has seen the original or the other adaptations, or who will find the emotional ending excessive.
