What Tony Rome Is About
Tony Rome, a hard nosed private detective living on a houseboat in Miami, is hired by a local millionaire to recover jewellery stolen from his daughter, and the job turns quickly into a series of collisions with local hoods and the Miami Beach police. Gordon Douglas adapted Marvin H. Albert's novel Miami Mayhem; Albert used the character across three books. Frank Sinatra came back to the part the following year in Lady in Cement, and Nancy Sinatra sings the title song. It belongs to the late sixties revival of the hard boiled detective picture.
