Mr. Soft Touch

Coming home from the war, Joe Miracle learns that a gangster has taken over his nightclub and that his partner has been killed. He takes the money from the club safe and runs. The place he hides in is a settlement house, and there he falls into another kind of life. Both the mob and the clock are after him. The film ties a crime plot to a story of conscience; what will become of the money he took is left standing. What country a man comes back to after a war lies under the account. It comes from the vein of American cinema of 1949 that joined film noir to melodrama. Glenn Ford and Evelyn Keyes appear in the ninety three minute American film by Gordon Douglas and Henry Levin, completed in 1949.
