Toofan

Galib was born into hard circumstances and grew up cast out in his village. In time he rises in the criminal world and comes to be called Toofan. The events are set in Bangladesh in the nineties. As the operation he builds grows, it comes into contact with politics. When the authorities close in, he takes unusual measures to hold on to what he has built. From that point the story turns into a question of identity. The film does not glorify the violence, but nor does it draw the man as nothing but a criminal. The hundred and forty three minutes are given to a rise and a fall. Shakib Khan and Mimi Chakraborty take the leads, with Chanchal Chowdhury also in the cast. Raihan Rafi’s Bangladeshi film was completed in 2024.
