What Totò diabolicus Is About
A wealthy marquis is murdered by a killer who calls himself Diabolicus. The suspects are the siblings due to inherit, and as they start dying one by one the police begin counting who is left. The real trick is that Toto plays several of the family members himself, so every death means another Toto. The title nods at the masked criminal of a comic that had just appeared in Italy that year. Directed by Steno, this is one of Toto's late parodies, with no intention of taking the detective format seriously and every intention of producing gags.
