What Two Colonels Is About
In occupied Greece during the Second World War an unintended closeness forms between an Italian colonel and the British colonel opposite him. As the front changes the fate of the town rests with the two of them, and the joke ends when the Italian refuses to obey the orders of the German command. Among Toto's comedies this is one of the few that objects directly to the war and to the chain of command; the ridiculous man turns out to be the only honest one. Walter Pidgeon, from Hollywood, plays the British colonel. The final scene takes it out of comedy.
