What Totò vs the Four Is About
Chief Constable Saracino's day starts badly, with his new car stolen. Back at the office he is met by Alfredo Fiori, who is convinced that his wife and her lover, a vet, are trying to kill him. As the day goes on, both the cases arriving on the desk and the people bringing them get steadily stranger. Steno lines up the heavyweights of Italian comedy against Totò: Peppino De Filippo, Aldo Fabrizi, Nino Taranto, Erminio Macario. Assembling that many of them at once tells you what the comedy of the period was after. The plot exists so that they can talk over one another.
