What U2: Popmart - Live from Mexico City Is About
The concert film records the show in Mexico City on the tour U2 made in support of their 1997 album. The camera takes the stage and the audience by turns, and the large scale stage design of the tour is the defining element of the image. The film builds no background account and uses no interviews; it is the show itself throughout. The account is not concerned with introducing the band and assumes the viewer knows them. Its hundred and twenty seven minutes belong to a single night. The difference of scale between the stage and the crowd is its most discussed aspect. The production, directed by David Mallet, was completed in 1997.
