Week-End at the Waldorf

A weekend passes at the Waldorf-Astoria hotel in New York. A famous film star meets a world weary war correspondent and takes him for a jewel thief. In the same hotel a soldier learns he will die without an operation and goes looking for one last romance; the person he finds is an ambitious stenographer. There is also a cub reporter, trying to expose a shady man’s dealings with a foreign potentate. The three stories touch each other inside the same building. The film uses the hotel not as a setting but as a place where lines cross. It is one of the star studded productions of American cinema in 1945. Ginger Rogers, Lana Turner and Walter Pidgeon appear in Robert Z. Leonard’s hundred and thirty minute American film, completed in 1945.
