What 20th Century Boys 3: Redemption Is About
The last part of the trilogy. Across the series, adapted from Naoki Urasawa's manga, a game a group of children invented in their hideout, a made-up scenario for the end of the world, has come true years later, executed to the letter by the cult leader who runs the planet. This film is the final confrontation, and it answers the question the whole thing was built on: who is Friend, and how do you stop him? Yukihiko Tsutsumi directs, with Toshiaki Karasawa as Kenji. At two and a half hours it is the longest of the three, and it is not a place to start without the other two. Compressing a manga that size into three films was a feat in itself.
