A Night in Casablanca

Managers at a hotel in Casablanca keep dying and nobody knows why. Groucho takes over as the new manager, which makes him next. This is late Marx Brothers and never reaches the energy of their thirties work, but the shape is unchanged: Groucho's wordplay, Chico's logic and Harpo's silent demolition. Its most famous story happened before shooting; when Warner Bros hinted it might object to the word Casablanca in the title, Groucho wrote the studio a series of mocking letters that have outlived the film itself. The gag of Harpo leaning against a wall is among the best remembered in the series. Who it is for: viewers who love the Marx Brothers and classic verbal comedy. Who it is not for: anyone expecting their best, since this belongs to their second tier.
