Arcadia of My Youth

Harlock is the last of a family of proud warriors. He comes home in his battle cruiser and finds everything changed. The Illumidas force has taken the planet. Humanity is under their yoke. Worse, the people who are left blame fighters like Harlock. They were not there when the planet fell. Harlock sets about organising a resistance anyway. He takes up the tactics of the old marauders. Along the way he meets Tochiro Oyama. He has never seen the man before and still knows him somehow. Emeraldas crosses his path after a crash landing. The story runs in two separate times at once. An aviator from the early twentieth century is part of it too. The film is the origin story of the Harlock character. Makio Inoue and Kei Tomiyama voice the hundred and thirty minute film, a Japanese production Tomoharu Katsumata finished in 1982.
