What Death Note Relight 2: L's Successors Is About
The second Death Note recap feature concentrates on everything after L's death: the arrival of Near and Mello, Kira's settled regime, and the final reckoning. It is not a remake but a compilation assembled from existing episodes, though the frame has been changed, with the events now relayed from Ryuk's vantage point and some scenes differing from the series. That makes it both repetition and commentary. The compression speeds the plot up but deletes the long silent waiting between the characters, which was arguably the best thing the series had. It tries to carry roughly eighteen hours of story in about two. Who it is for: viewers who watched the series and want the final stretch pulled together. Who it is not for: newcomers, since without context none of the moves make sense.
