Li'l Abner

Word comes from the government to the people of a town called Dogpatch in America: they must evacuate because of atomic bomb testing. The townspeople set about persuading the government that the place is worth saving. Meanwhile Earthquake McGoon wants to marry Daisy Mae; Daisy Mae wants to marry Li’l Abner; and Li’l Abner just wants to go fishing. The film was adapted from a comic strip and sets its songs inside the account. In the America of 1959 the story says with comedy how test grounds wiped whole towns away. Peter Palmer and Leslie Parrish appear in Melvin Frank’s hundred and thirteen minute American musical, completed in 1959.
