Love Strikes!

Fujimoto is thirty-one. No money, no ambitions, no girlfriend. He leaves his job and starts writing for a news site. Then something that has never happened to him happens: four women are interested in him at once. Japanese has a word for it, moteki, the stretch when a man suddenly finds himself wanted. Fujimoto has no idea what to do with it. That is where the film's joke sits: when the man gets the thing he wanted, the only thing it produces is his own ineptitude. Hitoshi One directs the Japanese film; a hundred and eighteen minutes, with Mirai Moriyama as Fujimoto and Masami Nagasawa, Riisa Naka and Yoko Maki in the cast. It comes from Mitsurou Kubo's manga and was a television series first; the film is set a year after it.
