Our Home Is Our Castle

A crowded set of tenants live in an old apartment house. Everyone is content with things as they are. The neighbours are close. The days pass in their own order. Then word arrives. The council plans to pull down the neighbourhood. A business centre is to go up in its place. Their building is on the demolition list. The tenants gather and talk it over. They refuse to move out. Nobody wants to leave their home. They decide to resist together. The resistance is organised inside the building. Everyone does what they can. Dealing with the authorities is not easy. The film builds all this as comedy. Poul Reichhardt and Paul Hagen appear in the one hundred two minute film, a Danish production Erik Balling finished in 1971.
