Pastor Hall

The account is set in a village called Altdorf. The government in Germany has changed. A platoon arrives in the village. Those who come are there to put the new order in place. The rules change quickly. Some of the villagers join the party. Some choose to keep quiet. They only want to be left alone. Hall, the pastor of the village, behaves otherwise. The man is gentle and not a fighter. But he will not give up what he says. He decides to speak his mind from the pulpit. That decision puts him face to face with them. Wilfrid Lawson and Nova Pilbeam take the leads, with Marius Goring also in the cast, in Roy Boulting’s British film of 1940.
