Stournara 288

The film takes place in an apartment block in Athens. The address of the building is 288 Stournara Street. The narrator is one of the tenants living there. He introduces us to the building and to his neighbours. In every flat there is a different life. Some barely get by and some are comfortable. They use the same staircase. Everyday troubles tie them all together. Rent, work, debt and gossip circulate constantly. Love affairs are not in short supply either. Some of them land in comic situations. The narrator passes all of it on warmly. The film records neighbourhood life in the city. There is some sadness in the way it looks. Sofia Vempo and Orestis Makris appear in the eighty three minute film, a Greek production Dinos Dimopoulos finished in 1959.
