The Ecstasy of Wilko Johnson

Wilko Johnson is a well known English guitarist. One day he is diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. The doctors tell him he has a few months. Johnson takes the news with unexpected calm. He turns down treatment. Instead he sets out on a farewell tour. He keeps playing on stage. Word of his story spreads quickly. Why does a man that close to death talk like this. The film puts that question at its centre. Then something happens. Two years go by and Johnson is still alive. He wakes up in a hospital bed. Now he has to carry what he learned while waiting to die into living. Wilko Johnson tells his own story in the ninety one minute documentary, a British production Julien Temple finished in 2015.
