What The Jade Tiger Is About
Zhao Wuji is the son of the man at the head of the Zhao clan. When his father is beheaded by a traitor working for the rival Tang clan, the young man sets out to take revenge. But the road is not straight; at every step a new alliance, a new betrayal and a new doubt about who is on which side comes up. After a while the revenge itself stops being an aim and turns into a trap closing around him. The film works with the moulds of Hong Kong martial arts cinema of the seventies and gives as much room to the setting up of the intrigue as to the fights. Ti Lung and Lo Lieh appear in Chor Yuen’s hundred minute Hong Kong film, completed in 1977.
