What The Sheepman Is About
A stranger rides into a cattle town and makes it clear from the first day that he defers to nobody, taking on a fight and a gun without blinking. Then his stock arrives and the reason becomes plain: he has come with a flock of sheep and he intends to graze them on the range. For a cattle town that means war, and they decide to run him out whatever it takes. It turns a western staple into comedy and moves quickly and cheerfully. Glenn Ford leads, with Shirley MacLaine and Leslie Nielsen opposite him, and seeing Nielsen play a straight villain before the comedy years is a pleasure of its own. George Marshall directs.
