What The Student Prince Is About
The heir to a small German principality is sent to study at Heidelberg so that he may see something of the world; outside the court he makes friends for the first time, goes to the tavern and falls in love with Kathie, who works there. But when his grandfather falls ill he must take the throne, and the marriage set before him is to another princess; he has to choose between happiness and duty. Mario Lanza had recorded the songs for the film; when he fell out with the studio the part went to Edmund Purdom, who acted to Lanza’s voice. Ann Blyth also appears in Richard Thorpe’s hundred and seven minute American musical.
