Vesku from Finland

The documentary is about Vesa-Matti Loiri. Known as Vesku, Loiri is among the best known film and television comedians in Finland. Besides acting he worked as a singer, a performer and a writer, and took part in sport. He recorded albums running from folk songs and couplets to tangos. Some of his recordings are built on the poems of Hermann Hesse and Eino Leino. Across his career he appeared in more than sixty films and made thirty albums. The film tries to gather that wide output into a single portrait. What it means to be a name everyone in a country knows is the real subject. Mika Kaurismäki’s hundred and two minute Finnish documentary was completed in 2010.
