Zombie and the Ghost Train

There are two things Antti does well: play bass guitar and drink. Everyone calls him Zombie. After months sleeping rough in Istanbul he comes back to Helsinki, is called up, and is discharged on mental health grounds after putting turpentine in the officers’ soup. He lives in a flat attached to his parents’ house, where his father is out of work and ill with his heart. His girlfriend Marjo comes back and his friend Harri takes him into the band as bass player. He has the woman and he has the gig; the question is whether he can put the bottle down. Mika Kaurismäki wrote, directed and produced it. Silu Seppälä plays Zombie and Matti Pellonpää plays Harri. It opened on 26 July 1991.
