What Where's Picone? Is About
During a session of the Naples city council in the early 1980s, Pasquale Picone, a steelworker who has just lost his job, sets himself on fire in front of the councillors. Then the man disappears, and only his name is left. A small-time hustler who goes looking for him on his wife's behalf discovers that the sentence 'Picone sent me' opens every door in the city. Nanni Loy follows that sentence down into the unofficial economy of Naples: fake insurance, invented jobs, a web in which everyone owes something to somebody else. Giancarlo Giannini and Lina Sastri play it. It starts out as a comedy, and what it is actually describing is how a city stays on its feet.
