What ¡A volar, joven! Is About
Cantinflas is a private in the army with no interest in discipline; his mind is on his girlfriend, a maid at a wealthy hacienda. When the owner's daughter falls for him and the family moves to marry them off, he gets himself arrested to escape it, and as punishment learns to fly under a hopeless instructor. The film's view of women is its era's: the jokes built on the daughter's looks are uncomfortable now. Cantinflas talked in circles that arrived nowhere, and that manner gave Spanish a verb, cantinflear. Not the best introduction to him, but a typical one.
