What Your Excellency Is About
Lopitos is a hopeless but quick-tongued clerk at the embassy of a small country. He is invited to a banquet only because the ambassador refuses to sit thirteen at a table, and while the dinner runs its course a chain of coups back home leaves him, absurdly, the ambassador. At the summit that follows, the two superpowers compete for the votes of the smaller nations. Lopitos is the last delegate left unaligned. He resigns the day before he is due to speak, so that he can address the room as a citizen rather than a diplomat. Miguel M. Delgado directs one of the films where Cantinflas points his wordplay straight at politics.
