Attention, Rounds!

The year is 1960 and the place is a hospital in Prague. A man lies in the infectious diseases ward. His name is Prepsl and he is a typhoid carrier. That is why he is kept in isolation. The man has no family. He has spent his life on the road. He likes to talk about the places he has seen. What he tells is listened to with interest on the ward. He will not accept being shut in, though. He tries to escape several times. In time something shifts. He makes friends with the hospital staff. He does the same with the other patients. Old Bartůněk and young Manka, raised in an orphanage, are there too. The story moves through everyday detail. Rudolf Hrušínský and Veronika Jeníková appear in the eighty eight minute film, a Czechoslovak production Karel Kachyňa finished in 1982.
