Free!: Take Your Marks

This entry in the Free! series is made of four separate short stories that continue directly from the two previous films. All four take place in March, in the days when Haruka Nanase is about to graduate from Iwatobi High School: the last days of the swimming club, who is going where, and what gets left behind. Produced by Kyoto Animation together with Animation Do, it fills the gap between the second season, Eternal Summer, and the third, Dive to the Future. Eisaku Kawanami directed, and it opened in Japan in October 2017. It carries on the side of the series that cares about the relationships between the characters rather than the competition; what is described is not a big race but the closing of a chapter.
