One Second Ahead, One Second Behind

The story is set in Kyoto. Hajime works at the post office. He does everything a second before anyone else. He is blunt with people. Reika is the opposite. She is always a step behind. Their paths cross. Valentine’s Day comes. The next morning Hajime wakes up. He remembers nothing of that day. A day has gone missing from him. The film falls into two parts, the first following Hajime and staying close to comedy, the second turning to Reika’s story and growing heavier. It is a remake of a Taiwanese film, with the genders of the two leads swapped in the adaptation. It opened on 10 June 2023. Masaki Okada and Kaya Kiyohara appear in the hundred and twenty minute film, a Japanese production Nobuhiro Yamashita finished in 2023.
