What Tarzan's New York Adventure Is About
The circus owner Buck Rand sees that Boy can handle animals, takes him out of the jungle and brings him to New York. Tarzan and Jane follow, and the ape man finds himself among skyscrapers, taxis and courtrooms. The dive from the Brooklyn Bridge is the best remembered moment. This is the sixth and last MGM film with Johnny Weissmuller; the series moved to another studio afterwards, and Maureen O'Sullivan left the part of Jane here. The comedy works, but the treatment of the circus animals and the film's idea of the jungle are uncomfortable now.
