The Case of the Lucky Legs

A con man puts on phoney beauty contests. The contests go under the name of lucky legs. He collects the money and disappears from town. Then Mason finds him, and the man is dead. There is a surgical knife in his heart. So the business turns into a murder investigation. The contests themselves were set up as fakes from the start. Once Mason is on the case the contests and the killing come onto the same line. Barton MacLane is in the cast too. The film runs crime and mystery alongside comedy. The account was adapted from a novel. Warren William and Genevieve Tobin take the leads, with Patricia Ellis, Lyle Talbot and Allen Jenkins also in the cast, in Archie Mayo’s American film of 1935.
