What The Policeman of the 16th Precinct Is About
A comedy from the golden age of Greek cinema. Ilias puts on a police uniform as part of a burglary plan, but it does not go as expected: the impostor officer is called in to help investigate a real crime. The real policemen at the station treat him as a colleague and Ilias has to keep the act going so that his cover holds. The comedy comes out of that single idea and the pace never drops. Alekos Sakellarios's direction is counted among the best uses of the Greek comic formula of the period. Kostas Hatzihristos leads, with a young Thanasis Veggos in the cast. The Athens streets of the late 1950s serve as a second set.
