The Sicilian Connection

A man of Italian origin who runs a pizzeria in America goes back to Sicily. The reason is plain: he is to kill a judge investigating the mafia. He cannot do the job alone and tries to bring in his younger brother, who has never been involved in anything. As the brother starts to understand, the two men come up against each other. Damiano Damiani directed the film, and he was one of the leading names of the Italian pictures about the mafia; he worked in the genre for many years. Michele Placido takes the lead. The title refers to the drug network uncovered in the eighties that was run through pizzerias. The telling does not romanticise the mafia; it shows it as a way of doing business.
