Romain Duris

Romain Duris plays Tom with an icy indifference in The Beat That My Heart Skipped. The piece singled out in that month reads that playing together with a directorial choice: Audiard does not care at all whether we like his hero, and by the piece Duris's Tom is a filthier piece of work even than the character Harvey Keitel played in an older version of the same story. The piece says why too: the victims in that film were genuinely in debt, while these ones merely happened to lie in the path of an institutional machine. The same piece names Exils when introducing him. The other film the archive looked at is Dobermann, and that review has him in the credits alone. His name is among the César nominees of 2024 for male lead; the nomination came from The Animal Kingdom, a 2023 work in his filmography.
