Dragon Ball Z: The Tree of Might

One of the feature films in the Dragon Ball Z series. A spacecraft falls to Earth and a seed comes out of it. Planted, it becomes an enormous tree; its roots draw off all the planet's energy and everything around it dies as the tree grows. The one who brought it is a Saiyan named Turles. He looks very like Goku, and that resemblance is one of the film's central ideas: two people of the same stock, one protecting the Earth and one draining it. Turles brings a crew of five and the fighting proceeds against them. Gohan's line runs separately; the boy has befriended an animal and is trying to protect it. It is the third feature in the series. It runs a little over forty minutes and the structure resembles the others: short setup, long battle, a finale closed by a single technique. Daisuke Nishio directed. Its environmental theme is one of the few in the series handled this openly. A brisk instalment for anyone who likes anime and follows this series. For a viewer who does not know the series, it introduces nobody.
