What Dragon Ball Z: Broly - Second Coming Is About

One of the short feature films that came out of the Dragon Ball Z series. Goten, Trunks and Videl are looking for the dragon balls. The last one they need is in a forest, and something is waiting there frozen under the ground. A ceremony is being held in a nearby village; the villagers believe a creature has woken and are preparing to offer a girl as a sacrifice. The children step in. What wakes in the forest is Broly, thought dead at the end of the previous film. He has been there in the rock for years and wakes on hearing a voice that sounds like Goku's. What follows is a chase. Goku is not around; most of the adults are not either. Two children and a young woman have to meet him. The structure follows from the length: about forty-five minutes, so nearly all of it is fighting. In the Japanese version Goku, Gohan and Goten are all voiced by the same performer, Masako Nozawa, a choice that has held since the beginning of the series. Shigeyasu Yamauchi directed. An episode that goes straight for its target for followers of the series and anyone who likes Broly. For a viewer who does not know the series, the film explains nothing and means little on its own.
