Dragon Ball Z: The Return of Cooler

New Namek is being taken over by a form of metal life: an artificial planet called the Big Gete Star is draining the planet's energy. What controls it is Cooler, thought destroyed by Goku, now fused with the machine. Goku, Vegeta, Piccolo and Krillin go to Namek and find metal enemies that can be copied without limit. Daisuke Nishio directed. It is the sixth Dragon Ball Z feature and Cooler's second appearance. It runs forty-six minutes. It opened in Japan on 7 March 1992 as one half of a double bill, which is how Toei's theatrical programme worked at the time. The short length is deliberate; the story stays outside the main series and does not disturb its continuity. Takao Koyama, who adapted many of Toriyama's Dragon Ball Z stories for the screen, wrote it. Who it is for: viewers who follow the Dragon Ball Z series and like short, fight-driven animation. Who it is not for: anyone who does not know it. The film introduces nobody and its plot exists to set up a single fight.
